Rushing Waters and Simple Pleasures

It’s been fifteen summers since I settled on the Maine Coast with my family and I’m still amazed by the natural beauty of this coastal region.
It’s a place where simple pleasures have time and space to grow.
A Long History
Old forts, settlements and indigenous artifacts lie among the forests and harbors, giving their silent testimony about the area’s long history.

There are no commercial signs or gas stations nearby, just older homes surrounded by rambling bushes and woodland. White churches with tall steeples stand on corners, and small, ancient graveyards can be seen within the woods.

Subtle Wonders of Woodland and Field

Lupines Everywhere

In the open spaces, vast spreads of lupines are blooming in shades of purple, pink and white. Bald eagles and seagulls fly overhead, porcupines roam through the grasses and deer pass silently through the trees. Balsam fir sends out its heavenly aroma in the woods.
Herbal Sun Tea – a refreshing drink for you to try!

This kind of tea doesn’t require a stove or a kettle. The rays of the sun brew the tea! It just takes a sunny day, and time for the tea to sit. You can make it with fresh herbs from the garden, or dried herbs that you’ve purchased (bags or bulk).
In the photos above I used wild field mint, rose petals and lady’s mantle for one batch, and dried hibiscus (packaged in bulk) for another.
Try making your own delicious tea with power of sunshine! It’s the perfect summer activity.
